sticky compost feet

Today I was able to till my garden and get ready to plant, I have to describe these things with words because the camera is officially kaput, I feel like I am cheating you because I am aware I'm not a very good writer and I have a ton of grammar mistakes. I'm anticipating a new camera in a few weeks, and I promise to take care of it.

The day started off badly, I had to call in sick because I get food poisoning so easily and I get to deal with that on a regular basis. I also had my Bio final today and had to study that so I didn't want to fill up my plate with too much stuff (i.e sickness) blah blah

I went to campus and studied for a couple of hours and then stood in line for another hour just to take my final...which I got an A on. I was pretty stoked about that, because that meant I got an A in the class woot woot! I should be getting A's in all my classes.

Afterward I headed home and did some cooking, made some chicken soup and breaded eggplant (Papa Carr continues to bring home the purple plant, challenging me!) While I was about to put the eggplant in the oven I noticed Papa Carr starting to till MY garden and I ran out there barefoot and begged him to stop. I dropped my kitchen duties to go out and help with the tilling and cleaning up of the garden.

I love the way dirt feels on your feet when it's been dug up and loose. It reminds me of cold sand and despite the look of it, smells fresh. I worked out there for about an hour and a half digging up tulip bulbs and transplanting them elsewhere to make room for my veggies. I get so giddy when I can go to the greenhouse and pick out fun things to nurture for the next 3-4 months. It's kind of like a temporary pet that you can eat! OK that's kind of morbid...
It came time to put in the compost, the scary kind with bugs and rotten apples, I don't like this stuff and it ruins the smell of my fresh dirt, and I stepped in not only smooshie unidentifiable things, but dog poo as well....barefoot. The dog poo wasn't in the compost is was somewhere in the grass so no worries!  But the good thing is I can finally say that my garden is almost ready to go! Just a few more weeks and I will be planting!!!
