Because of your extreme violence and drug trafficking, my trip to your country has been canceled due to the dangers involved. Because of your ignorance I cannot serve your people, the people who have been looking forward to this for almost year. Because of the savagery, your own kin have lost the hope for a better future, was it worth it?
I got this email today:
"When it comes down to it, we have canceled this trip for your safety. Alexis Palmer (the Center Director) and I met with our International Center yesterday morning to discuss some concerns regarding this trip. Their primary concern (which we share) is that a Travel Alert Watch has been moved to a Travel Alert Warning and was extended in Mexico until May 12th. We do not feel comfortable endorsing a trip to a country with such a warning from the State Department and our Institutional International Office. Chances are that we would have been very safe as a group and that we would have returned incident-free. However, if something did indeed happen, we don't know how we can explain to a parent, or anyone else for that matter, that we chose to ignore the warnings from the US State Department and our International Center."
The only good thing about this is I will be getting a full refund, I will be praying to figure out what the Lord wants me to do with it.
I am bitterly disappointed, though I have been more so in my life. This just comes at a really hard time for me right now. I just feel like I am failing my own life.
I'm so sorry your trip was cancelled. I think you are awesome!
ReplyDeleteDon't despair, my love. Although you can not be there, the Lord is. As he made water into wine, if it is his will, he will turn their dirt floors into concrete. A way will be made. If it is not his will, we still rejoice that the last will be made first in his kingdom.
