I may be a film snob....

But for Pete's sake, I'm not mean about it!
There is a scene that keeps playing out in my mind of a recent encounter with one of my classmates. We have been experimenting with alternative processing and playing with different size film 120, 220 etc. (I'll post some examples in a few days) .The problem is when people find out how cool film is and then get used to using it, they kind of turn into these know it all's. OK I know what you're thinking "Laura, you're a know it all"  This is true sometimes but... I'M NOT MEAN!

So one day, I walk into class and see a girl with 120 film in film sleeves and try to make small talk.

Me: Oh! Hey is that 120?

Her: No *flips hair, tilts head up, looks away* It's medium format.

Me: *in my head* Soooo 120?!

Seriously? Is it that hard to be nice?

Today in the darkroom:

Girl switches out stop bath ( chemical used to stop developing ) and goes about her business. I put my picture in and notice it's still slippery and feels weird, I ask her if she put chemical in and she literally snaps at me and says "it actually doesn't need it"
Really? Then why do the aids come in and clean it every so often?
I totally put in the stop bath while she huffed about not needing it. Sorry dear, I'm paying out the wazoo for this class and the chemicals that come with it, I'm using what I paid for.

What is happening to politeness?  Where did it go?

No wonder people are so grouchy all the time.

Apples, medium format or 120 film.
