Are you serious right now?

Tonight I went over to my friend Derek's house for dinner. For weeks now he has been telling me how he is only into flat chested Asian women and older chicks really turn him off as well. He is 23 I'm 29, not that I am into him or anything it's just how many times do you have to remind me you're SO NOT interested in me? None the less he is actually a pretty good friend and I do enjoy our conversations. Enter Josh, new guy just moved here from the east coast and when he looked through our ward directory he saw my picture and apparently said out loud "I like puddin' girls" after which made various attempts to meet me, but we never really met until tonight.

At dinner the whole vibe was pretty uncomfortable, except for Derek who was talkative and served me yummy food and made good conversation, which is expected at a dinner party. Josh finally showed up and we got to talking and for a while I was thinking "hey! This guy is pretty cute!" He started talking about his crazy ward and we were having a good laugh about it then he said "you should come, you might meet someone you'd like" my response was "That's not the problem, it's finding boys who like me!" Then he said with out even a pause...

"Well these guys have low standards so I'm sure you won't have a problem."

Are you serious? Did you really just say that? Yes he did.

I never felt so ugly in my life,. Here I am trying to make a few new friends and then a guy who just met me judges my appearance while gobbling down his dinner and letting his primordial thoughts leak out of his head like bitter sap.
I retorted with "well I guess a virtuous woman comes a dime a dozen these days, apparently looks are everything to men."

There is a reason this 34 year old man is single.

He is a total toad.

I'm sorry but I thought standards were something else.. Does he have a testimony? Does he know Christ? Does he love the Temple? Will he be a good father? These are things that I care about and rarely am I attracted to just good looks. Love for the Lord and intelligence, always.

Today, men are pigs.

  2. Too bad your standards aren't low enough to include him...

    I can relate.

I tend to run into a lot of men who find curly hair and opinionated women extremely off-putting. I still haven't figured out why either of those traits would be a turn-off.

Also, you're gorgeous. I would've told you earlier, but I figured you already knew. So, now I'm telling you. Granted, I'm not a man, but sometimes men are too dense to recognize beauty when it walks up to them and says hi.
