Selling out is hard to do.

So I had the idea to start selling my photography to greeting card companies, this idea was (in my minds eye) incepted by my photo professor Barb. To be honest I thought I could really do it you know? Sell my images to companies, my fantasy included enthusiastic emails from different companies just waiting to cut me a check for my gorgeous photography, colorful and unique, and lets be honest WHO uses film anymore...this woman (me) is a prodigy in the photo world and then everyone cheers.

With banners, and large #1 foam fingers.

As it turns out, I would have to spend more money becoming a part of an agency that sells stock photos for everyone to download at the high price of .25 cents an image, I would get a small part of that in royalties and my photos would be posted with thousands of other perfect place images for people to choose just the right one for their needs. Whether it be for a card or a background, my art would blend in with crowds of computer information floating around in space like Mike T.V or that candy bar that magically appeared at the other end of the room.

I just wanted to make a little pocket change to buy more vintage camera's and fuel my film habit. Because if this continues I may need an intervention, I haven't gotten into debt over it...yet! ;) I just LOVE film! The images are gorgeous and worth it to me. I am learning how to be more creative every day and that makes me happy, no amount of therapy could do that.

Any way here are some images I took while having it in my mind "I'm gonna sell these"

Enjoy!

They're useless otherwise, and I would be selfish to only enjoy them myself.

Taken with my trusty Pentax using Portra 160 ISO film. The film is special because it's super color concentrated so I didn't have to do anything to these, except on occasion I'll flip them to B/W.

  1. I love them! Beautiful. I don't think it makes you a sell out per say. I totally agree that it is good to share your talent and the beautiful things that you capture. Oh how I wish I had a nice camera!
