Life Next to the Park

Parks are great aren't they? Especially ones with jungle gyms, swings and wood chip grounds. At the park next to my house there are rolling hills of green grass, spotted with new flowering trees. There are little places to set up mini BBQ parties and a big pavilion which on a Saturday it's not unusual to see a birthday party, ward gathering, or fiesta with colorful streamers, balloons and pinatas  whimsically bouncing in the wind. During warm weekends mom's and dad's gather with small children to play kick ball, fly kites, soccer, T ball, Frisbee in big triangle shaped patterns or just lay around in the sun. The weekdays are usually filled with just mom's gathered together in little circles talking about "things" I presume, things like how to potty train or why Jr. would eat dirt or cat food and should they worry? I see them in their cute clothes and hair made up just enough for the park and some good adult conversation. I love mommy's with DSLR camera's trying to get the right shot as their little boy is swinging fast, high, and laughing. I'm totally intrigued by these women, maybe because someday I'll be that woman conversing about the craziness of being a mommy and definitely with a camera in my kids face ALWAYS.

OH then there is the single people, the singles will gather like hoards of hormones looking for a good row. On Monday nights?! LOOK OUT! Our park is situated perfectly 4 blocks south of BYU campus and is about 2 miles from another public park, so you got TONS of people looking to get outside. I see students studying, doing yoga, Tai Chi, reading poetry to one another (specifically Haiku's as my experience), talking on cell phones or doing lap top stuff.  All of this happens during the day of course but at night there is a whole 'nother vibe going on.

Couples are usually the ones who creep out into the night to be with one another in the darkness, girls wide eyed and laughing at boys and their witty jokes, then ever so gently snuggling in closer to warm chests and arms. Men who fumble with brawny hands and sweet intentions. There is something so magical about the park at night, being a single sexy and funny girl, I have had many times found my self in said park with boys, holding hands and scooting in closer and closer till arms and legs are intwangled and a kiss is evident.... I mean he DID buy me dinner so...
I love the feeling of being in a good man's arms, unfortunately it has been a little while (I've been busy) but I rarely get upset seeing these sweet couples outside my kitchen window or passing by on my way home from a bike ride, or watching the couple scandalously wrap themselves up in a blanket and have a good roll in the grass (my roommate and I both were watching and laughing it wasn't creepy I promise.) Though I can't help but to people watch, I think there is really nothing more beautiful then human nature. It's quite fun watching all these people from our little white house next to the bustling park. I shouldn't be stopping anytime soon.

I didn't take this, but it is at our park!

  1. I really enjoyed this Lalo!

I slept on my neck wrong last night and woke up with a headache, (that has ambitions of being a migraine...'put me in, coach, I can do it!') The kids arguing over...uh...Alena put her leg on Scarlett and Scarlett pushed her off or something... My mom called me and told me Clay and Crystal broke up, and Clay now has my dear nephew at some dude named, "Uncle Guy"'s house. (And some other stuff about how Kelly sneaked out and got into a car accident and got Clay to impersonate Randy to pick her up from the police station...I dunno...)

Buffy puked in my path from the bedroom to the kitchen.

Robert tells me the neighbor is coming over in 30 minutes to borrow some tools...

This blog entry is the first pleasant thing in my world this morning, so thank to tha you! :)

    Love (to tha) you!
