Lomo Lovin'

Take your Lomo everywhere you go.

Yesterday I was thinking of something new I could try, something artsy and exciting. I have been pretty bummed about the whole polaroid fiasco (film is really, really expensive) I knew what I wanted my photos to look like but I just couldn't think of how to achieve that. I have all these awesome vintage camera's with film that is either way to expensive or not made anymore. What to do?

Be unique and find your own way.

Then a little thought came to mind, what about a lomo? They take 35mm film which is attainable and can be processed easily at any photo lab, so I started looking for something preferably cheap but I ended up justifying my entire purchase as a "birthday" present...to me.

The first one I found is in Hong Kong

The eyes and mouth are lenses, and take 3 consecutive pictures resulting in a collage of movement. OH and it's a robot face!! CUTE!!
When I was paying I was tempted to write a little note to the seller "put something Hong Kongy in there! Anything you don't want that is laying around your house!" I didn't want to be a creeper so I left that bit out.

The second one is a Fisheye

I found this one in California. I am super excited for this one, I keep thinking of things I can take pictures of and make them all stretchy.

Lomography is not an interference with your life but a part of it

I also ordered some expired film from a guy in London, I am also hoping he writes a note or put a tea bag in there with a note saying something like "Cherio chum!"

Why expired film? Because it makes the colors all wonky and the art is amplified with spontaneity, could life get any better?

Don't think just shoot.

Lomo's are well known in the artsy fartsy circle that I would eventually like to become a part of, mostly because I enjoy a wide variety of people. I think that if you just find your own niche and do it well, that sort of stuff comes naturally because people become interested in what you have to offer and that is usually YOU!

My next problem is this: I want more.

The next purchase on my list will have to wait a month, it's a Holga golden half. The name itself is awesome and it takes 2 pictures, I am pretty sure you can decide when to take the second picture. These guys run about 50 bucks, and I will wait patiently.

  1. So when are you going to get a normal camera so that I might eventually get mine back? Not that I don't mind you borrowing it and taking all kinds of amazing pictures with it.
