For those of you who know me best, you know that I love vintage camera's. Today I was at work feeling like a frumpy grease ball, I went upstairs to get some water and low and behold I saw not 1 but 2 old polaroids. The first one being a polaroid sun 660.
And the second a polaroid cool cam:
I nearly peed my pants, because they were in a box full of JUNK! I think my boss is going to send them off to DI or something.
SOOOOO I took them. My boss wasn't there today so I just shoved them away in my desk hoping to stride into his office tomorrow and casually bring it up. My boss is kind of a father figure to me so if I whine sweetly I'm betting I can get these from him.
Hopefully I can get some film, I'm bidding on some right now and I will have to use it wisely because it's much more expensive than I thought.... NOT TOO BAD of course but still pricey. If he doesn't give them up then I will borrow them.
This is the epitome of instant gratification and art. I found a cool blog about taking polaroids, this girl named Sophie, and her love for them.
She had a cool photo project going on where she sent out 8 disposable lomo camera's to strangers and then had them all sent back to her in Australia.
Sophie:
"I posted 8 disposable lomo cameras around the world to 100 perfect strangers... a few got lost, most made it home and the yellow camera... the last of the weary travelers is on its way to the second last person on a list of 12...Each camera was assigned a color and 12 strangers. Each random individual had to take two photos of something predominately that color before passing it on to the stranger below them on the list... the cameras were meant to take approx 5 weeks (3 days p/person) before returning home... but that was a plan for a perfect world and we don't live in a perfect world - hence my excitement that almost a year since the cameras were posted its almost time to get them all developed and see what beautiful treasures they hold"
I love people.
Check out her blog...
she's an artist too!
