quell weed growth. We are finally starting to get some real
produce, the
peas were delicious, those plants are starting to
die out and new stuff is coming up like eggplant which I was really excited for, I have never eaten it but it's just a pretty plant! Our peppers are also coming in and tomatoes, as well as my wax and green beans. We had a mystery patch of squash that was growing since early may, we have

been really frugal with our squash plants because they produce so much, so the mystery plant *drum roll please*..... MORE ZUCCHINI! We now have about 6 zucchini as well as 1 banana squash plant in the one patch. hmmmmm. I was really hoping for acorn squash as it was delicious last year, but I will survive. Plus there is a good chance the other mystery squash patch will end up being Acorn, we didn't plant any in hopes to already having a patch. The tomato plants are doing well, I don't like tomatoes but I do like salsa or sauce so hopefully we can make some and can it! The apple tree has a lot of apples on it, I learned how to make applesauce so I am looking forward to that as well. Unfortunately the corn is not doing so well, it is barely up to my knees and I have been babying those things since day one! I literally am a bit jaded about the whole thing to be honest, "Brother Hadley's corn is taller than me Summer! So not fair" I really shouldn't try and compare to brother Hadley...he is an expert gardener. OK off to make pumpkin pastie for the kick butt Harry Potter party that is going to last like 24 hours!
maybe you'll have to give me some advice on this newspaper thing to quell the weeds... the garden netting and straw we put down didn't work. but we did put down wood chips in one area of the garden, and it has worked. but newspaper would be alot cheaper... so let me know! and this gardening thing, i swear every year is a learning experinece! i plan on starting a garden journal to put everything i've learned in for reference in the future.
