For the first time ever, I actually made jam. I love trying out new things so when I found brambles and brambles of a blackberry bush no one uses I took full advantage. An hour and three band-aids later I had picked about 2 lbs, they were luscious! I was able to pick up some pie cherries at the farmers market they were tiny, red, sweet & tart...so perfect! I got some cute jars to put them in, and I made jam the whole afternoon. It was easier than I thought, I was surprised at the amount of sugar the recipe called for, so I added only half and it still turned out amazing.

i made my first batch of strawberry jam last weekend... havn't tried it yet since scott wants to use up the yucky store bought stuff first before we tap into the homeade stock. i can't wait! i'm going to try making some more next week on my own... i figure i need to feel comfortable doing it myself without scott's help because i'm a country wife and this is my job!
