HOLI MOLI!

Word of the day: Recessionitis
the new disease much like chronic bronchitis it can take months even years to go away.
The new excuse not to do anything, this is the act of excluding yourself from activities simply because you can't afford it.

LEE: you coming to the movie?

Amber: Ahh I wish I could but I got a mad case of recessionitis.

Quote of the Day:
Laura: oooh if you plug the tub you can see every color come out of your hair....and I totally had purple snot!

Listening to show me what I'm looking for by Carolina Liar

So for those of you who don't live here in Utah there is a wonderful thing called the Festival of Colors or Holi at the Krishna temple in Spanish Fork. This is my second favorite place I come here at least 5 times a year for different festivals and field trips for my clients. This particular event requires you to throw an array of colored powder into the air or on any possible thing with a pulse and it is always packed I counted at least 3 thousand...roughly.

see thousands! I love people..

we got there at about 430 pm and had to hike to the Temple from about a mile away but it was a gorgeous day perfect for the occasion. I had went the day before and bought 16 packets of color I was counting on at least 4 people to show but only 3 did but we still had a blast! We sat down on the grass at first and watched a few shows but then decided to explore and that is when the inevitable hap pend and I got lost from my group, now getting lost is a special thing especially when you don't have your phone because Summer had it along with your purse and all the color you had previously purchased. I JUST HAD to go into the temple and see what was happening on the second floor and I got some sweet video

everyone was just jamming away to Hare Krishna Rama Rama it was cool even though I didn't join in on the chanting. When I came out of the temple I knew it was about time to start and couldn't find Summer! I was crushed when they started to throw powder and I had none so I decided to make the best of the sitch and head to the middle of the crowd and that is where I got pelted! I couldn't breathe but being a part of something so huge was totally worth it!

after things settled down I just sat on a random stage and decided to stay in one spot so that Summ could find me easily and she did of course she did and brought our friend Catherine with her and they saved my share of the color! then these people came up behind us and I overheard them complaining of not having any more color to buy (they had gotten there late and were clean) so I offered up 3 bags of my own to them and thought that we would just throw it at each other until about 30 others saw that we had more color and rushed to us the photo below is of that happening and I am smack dab (whatever that means ) in the middle so ya it was worth being lost because I got a ton of attention later haha!
I have one more video of the actual crowd throwing the color and me being lost..

after we found each other we headed down to the concert where there was more chanting, moshing, shoe throwing *see above pic* and body surfing. we were in the middle of the crowd and I was scared for my life mostly because there were so many body surfers and I didn't know when to put my hands up and grab their butt"appropriately" of course (Mormons need to get out more) in this pic below there is a girl being hoisted up in the top right corner. so after the sweet close to death experience we decided it was time to clean up a bit because people just dropped all of their wrappers all over from the color so Summer and I picked a perimeter and picked up a few trash bags full of the stuff some people even helped us. We felt like we did our part anyway to help with the clean up GO CLEAN EARTH! or Krishna Temple or whatever

I would have done it all over again....getting lost and everything!

I think I have anxiety issues!!

WORD OF THE DAY~NONVERSATION: A completely worthless conversation, wherein nothing is illuminated, explained or otherwise elaborated on typically occurs at parties.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

Laura~ we should just witch's brew her car! *meaning taking all of condiments in fridge and making a nasty concoction to dump on a car of said person*

Tandi~ It's only a misdemeanor if you get caught!

Laura~ How do you know this stuff?

Listening to Love you more By Armin Van Burren

SO lately I have been getting all worked up over things I cannot change or get over. Like the fact that I simply cannot be perfect all the time. I am going to make mistakes and hurt people accidentally, it is a waste of time to worry SO MUCH about others when I have a life of my own. Everyday we interact with people on an emotional, physical, spiritual level I LIVE FOR THESE INTERACTIONS! I love people I cannot get enough vignettes in daily life, just driving home from work I will see little scenes from the daily life of people and it is all so beautiful! A father throwing his laughing daughter in the air, brothers fighting over a ball, A family going to the temple to do baptisms, a bird drinking out of a small patch of melted snow on our roof. I am one of those people who just love everyone but sometimes I love too much and it can get confused with romantic love (regarding boys of course) I am not saying that they are the ones who confuse I do as well, so then I start thinking of stuff and I get all worried that I am being to clingy or not making my intentions clear. ahhhhhhh! I'm doing it now OK so what I am saying is..... I'm a cuddle slut! I love to cuddle and snuggle! and I am worried I'm being to clingy. to most of you this is going to be funny but being a cuddle slut is a serious offense in my world because I don't usually have a cuddle buddy, is this bad? OK so it is funny now that I see it in black and white.

BOY STORY!
OK so last week I was volunteering at the soup kitchen (FCC) and there is a guy who works there and I think he might be a little sweet on me! his name is Carlos he is from Colombia and is very sweet *he is a bit shorter than me which I have issues with but oh well* anyway everyone makes fun of us for flirting all the time (even tho I don't think we are I'm just being nice) during work he kept asking me if I wanted to go for a ride on his motorcycle after work he could just take me home or something (I usually walk there) I kept saying no because I'm so not the kind of girl you put on the back of a motorcycle! after work we stood outside and took a gander at this fine vehicle and he looked REALLY good in his helmet....lets just say as I watched him ride off into the sunset I regretted not being on the back of his bike! but I will try to be sly and get him to offer me again and maybe I can feel like a girl who can ride on the back of motorcycles....with hot foreign guys. I will get a pic of this I promise!

two crazy nights involving food

Word of the Day: Intwangled~ when things are intertwined and tangled
exp: These wires are all intwangled!

Quote of the day

Laura to Lora: You don't nome me!
(followed by uncontrollable laughing which causes the whole dinner group to pause for five minutes)
Laura: are we guilty of levity?

Listening to: Lighthouse by the Hush sound

I can't seem to take off the slanty font so deal with it.

On Thursday
night (there we go slanty off!) I tried to get a hold of my friend Andrew like 30 times to come to sushi with Jessica and I because he orders for us... but to no avail he never turned on his phone, so we were on our own when ordering. I love sushi ya it is on state street in Orem by the old bowling alley. When you first walk in it's dark and there is a quaint fish pond to your right with Koi and Turtles. The first time I took Jessica I told her she got to pick out which fish she wanted from the pond before they prepared it, she believed me for 3 seconds gullible! So we sat down and I was a little nervous because you don't want to look stupid when ordering sushi! so we ordered nigiri first which is just raw fish on top of rice and so flippin good!we then ordered a few rolls from the menu like the Las Vegas which is tempura dipped and has various things inside, the Godzilla which is hot and spicy, the caterpillar cool and cucumber, all the while we were getting to know Ajax (top pic) who is always there when we go. He is from China and has a small family here in town an adorable son and gorgeous wife. After a while of ordering and talking with Ajax I told him to make us whatever he wanted to"surprise us" and he did we got an array of sushi that was not only artistic but delicious! He fit in so many types of things in rolls I was surprised indeed! this one is sea bass and tuna with everything in the middle so all in all a very fun evening connecting with people and trying new things.

Friday 13Th shenanigan~

So my friends Ben and Brannae have started a tradition of having these dinners on Friday the 13 where you eat the messiest food with no hands or utensils. Last month was fun but this month there were 5 more people who were boys which just make the whole experience way more fun and Beth made it this time so it was even better! Its awkward to start eating with your face because you don't want to seem like a messy eater that is so un-kosher in our society so it takes a little while to get used to the fact that you are going to get really messy. Through out dinner there were various slurping noises and giggles from all corners of the table and as people got used to eating face down in their plates it got way crazy especially my neighbor Alex, Brannae's brother.after dinner we had a few competitions of who can drink their water fastest with no hands ect. also a quick game of imaginiff which I couldn't finish because I'm a wuss and got tired at 10' o'clock. But I did get some great pics!

The Kitchen Table

Word of the day:
Kitchenheimer's-
when you're in the kitchen going around in circles because you can't remember what you were doing there.

Quote of the Day;
Heather: You duck fart!
Laura: Eww I wonder what that would smell like?
Summer: *singing* Wonder bread!!

Currently listening to: Jesu, joy of man's desiring ~Jenny Oaks Baker

So living with a family is totally different than living on your own. I know DUH! but I moved in here with the knowledge that it was going to be different. My upbringing was completely different than most, my parents are "far out" very liberal democrats who have the attitude anything goes! That is fine and great, but I prefer something a little more structured in day to day family life and that is what I plan to have with my own family... someday providing I find a help meet. The kitchen table here is unique, it's small, can fit four adults and a tiny spunky grandma, it is the source of many conversations ranging from the current events to what is good for the prostate...yup we talked about that too, not with grandma present though. The Carr family is a tight knit clan with many stories of missions in New Zealand (2) and 7 kids and their families, the meals are amazing! Tonight it's salmon and broccoli, last night was a really yummy soup. I am realizing the dynamics of a kitchen table and the meals that are served with patience and care, the Carr family does not have a microwave. At dinner Russell was suspiciously doing something at the base of the basement stairs we kept bugging him trying to figure out what he was doing...well he was blowing up a whoopee cushion and planted it on Lynne's chair as she sat down for dinner, we all laughed pretty hard mostly me.

It has been quite the adjustment I have had to give up some of my independence of course. Russell (summer's dad) and I talked about the garden and he is more than willing to help me learn I am so excited we are going to start planting at the end of this month.
I may have convinced Lynne to let me can some tomatoes too, she was apprehensive at first but I think I can sway her. I love my new living situation! living with summer is fun too she has a lot of weird quirks I'm getting used to it still feels like I'm just visiting like always but going home is just the next room over and a lot easier than driving

moving

Word of the day: Easter Egg
A hidden item placed in a movie, television show, or otherwise visual media for close watchers.

Originates from the the 1975 movie "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," when the cast had an Easter Egg hunt but most of the eggs went unfound. They can be seen throughout the film in various locations (such as under Frank N. Furter's throne).

Exp:The framed picture of Julia Roberts inside the character's home was an Easter Egg inserted by the director
.

Quote of the day:

Summer: So when is your Uncle going to give you his camera?...oh he has to die first.

currently listening to : first impressions~ YO YO MA

learned: If you eat beets they turn your pee pink!

Well I moved...again. I find that when you move every 6 months you tend to get rid of a lot of crap! I just DI'd so much stuff I really hate clutter anyway. When you decide you are going to move you start packing up the important stuff first, pictures, things you want saved but don't usually use blah blah. Then on moving day after the second caravan of more crap and employed friends you find that you had more crap than you thought, it's the odds and ends of your crap that make moving miserable. By the end of the day if you have to move one more box or trash bag filled with crap you will have a nervous break-down and die...also did I mention exhausted? That's pretty much how I felt yesterday. Also whoever had the bright idea to have a dance party after you move is stupid (me). The party was fun it was a small group and we all shook our tushes like no one's business! There were only 2 boys there and both were just kind of staring at us wondering how girls can get so mental, Lincoln I'm sure was into whatever Belnap was doing which was way hot of course and Andrew just kind of watched and attempted to dance...I feel bad for the boy he really has no rhythm, I just cheered him on hoping he would eventually stop, especially when he was chiming in on our "girls just wanna have fun" song lol gotta love friends!
I was home by midnight. So the party wasn't to crazy. I feel totally comfortable at Summer's, they eat really yummy stuff! We had asparagus with brown rice and nuts, salad and beets for dinner, and they are pro-free range meat eaters and they have local eggs from happy chickens. I couldn't have moved into a better home! Plus her parents think I'm way awesome (just sayin') .

I miss Malaina she is in Argentina for a few more months.

I'm excited to be back in the 189 ward...I'm so gonna flirt with Derek today.

My bed is way comfy.
